The Internet is not as nice a place as we might expect. This mainly applies to discussions and comments, especially if they are not moderated. In general, on the Internet, anyone can write almost anything, as long as there is no violation of the law. Often they are not punished because the police often do more important things. This is where we most often encounter so-called Internet trolls. These are usually people who crave attention and try to get it on the Internet. By far the most common is by writing comments and articles that are minimally controversial. Their goal is to provoke discussion and get both positive and negative reactions.
But why is it such a problem? This makes it impossible to make a normal argument. After all, when the whole thread is filled with similar comments, meaningful discussion becomes essentially impossible. And that\’s what they are all about – all attention is focused on them. But how do we know if this is just a troll who wants to stir things up, or if he really means what he says? It may not be very easy to convey, as both groups defend their contributions with equal passion and often use identical arguments. But there are some differences. First of all, it looks like more people are arguing here because trolls often have multiple accounts where they contribute to the discussion.
We can find out by the fact that these debaters often have names that do not exist – if you look into the database, you will find that such a person does not exist.We also often see that this person is not at all obedient to meaningful arguments. Instead of answering our questions, he often answers with either invectives or emoticons. In this case, we can be sure that we are dealing with trolls. How to behave in this case? The best solution is not to get involved with them because that\’s what they want. No matter how self-logical our arguments are, we can be sure we won\’t convince them. It would just be a waste of time.
